Best Green Smoothie
Getting your daily greens has never been easier. People ask all the time if green smoothies taste like spinach, and most of the recipes I keep on hand don’t. I love the taste of spinach when I feel like eating it, but first thing in the morning, the refreshing, tropical tang of mango sounds divine. And that’s why this is one of my very favorite green smoothie recipes, created for us by our friend The Blender Girl. We often use bok choy for this recipe for its mild and fresh flavor. This vegan smoothie comes together so easily, in just a few minutes.
Tropical Green Smoothies for Health
Okay, so we all know getting your daily greens is important, but there are particular ways to consume them that give you the most nutrition. Did you know pairing dark, leafy greens with vitamin C allows your body to absorb more iron? This is really important for those with vegetarian or vegan diets, as iron can sometimes take a hit with meat avoidance. The lime juice in this recipe adds a huge punch of vitamin C, so you’re getting even more out of the greens.
Now let’s talk mango. This superfood contains more than 12 types of polyphenols, a plant compound antioxidant that inhibits the growth of cancer cells (proven particularly related to breast cancer). Mangoes also support eye health, help regulate blood sugar, and they’re great for your hair and skin.
And last but not least, ginger works wonders as an anti-inflammatory and digestive aid. This smoothie is literally healthcare in a glass.
