Wherever you are, be there totally.
Oh, how I struggle with this idea. I’m usually worrying about something that already happened or stressing about the future. My one main goal this year is simply to live in the now. An easy concept, but how many of us have mastered the art of living in the moment?
The proliferation of technology doesn’t help with so many distractions at any given time. I’m in the process of teaching myself how to be mindful of the present. For me, it requires daily reminders to stop working/stressing and enjoy the moment.
My list of NOW activities:
- Listen to myself breathing for 60 seconds.
- Turn off cell phone for a few hours
- Stop a non-critical “to do” to play with my kids.
- Sit in silence for 5 minutes.
- Call someone I haven’t talked to in a while to ask them how they are doing and REALLY listen to the answer.
- Stop, smile, laugh. Repeat.
- Spontaneous dance party
- Say “I love you” to my hubby followed by bear hug.
Wherever you are, be there totally.
